In Australia, more children die from preventable injuries than from cancer, asthma and infectious diseases combined. Most injuries occur in the home and children 0-4 years are at greatest risk.
Since Kidsafe was established, the number of children killed by unintentional injury has more than halved, from 750 per year in 1979 to 150 deaths per year now. Our strategy has been simple - keep kids out of hospital by providing practical, evidence-based safety advice to empower parents to prevent injuries.
Run to keep kids out of hospital and raise funds for our Bringing Baby Home Safely Program that targets this vulnerable 0-4 age group by providing Queensland families with free hire of a baby capsule and injury prevention education during the first 6 months of baby's life. The aim of the program is 'towards zero' deaths from preventable injuries in the 0-4 age group.
Your donation will help us purchase 200 new baby capsules for our hire fleet so that we can assist 40 more families per month, particularly those with low birth weight or premature babies, or families in need.
