Story
Izzy and I are walking the 4.5km Bridge to Brisbane this year and want to raise as much as we can for research that helps everyone's loved ones.
I told Izzy I was doing the event, and she (the one who says she's exhausted walking 100m to school) said she wanted to do it with me. She wanted to have a shop and sell brownies to raise money "for people who need it". I said she didn't have to choose QIMR Berghofer just because I was supporting them, she could choose any charity, but I was a pretty stoked when she said she wanted to support them too because they help people who really need it.
And it's got her excited to go for walks - so it's a win for researchers, patients, the brownie buyers, Izzy's health and this proud mum.
I get to see first hand the incredible research taking place and what every contribution, big or small means for progressing it - and for the morale of the researchers putting their hearts and souls on the line to find answers. Science ain't no easy career choice I tell ya what! And these are the people who making the discoveries that save and improve our health.
Together we can make a big impact, and Izzy will be excitedly watching every bit of support she gets so if you can contribute anything, small or large - you are a true legend and will fill a little girl's bucket. (For those of you who have read the book you know!).
