Story
Hey everyone
Everyday a special young lady from a small country town is faced with the Challenges of Epilepsy and the possibility of a seizure without warning. This is a close knit community that embraces her and educates those around her with the tools necessary and the observations to make should she have a seizure in their presence. The observations made and reported to paramedics on arrival by kids who are still at school, and even those in the day-care centre is admirable. My heart fills to bursting when I hear what those around this young lady are capable of and how much they care.
While we live our lives and struggle with the constraints of time and responsibilities, Keeley dreams of having her license, being able to go out unchaperoned, actually being able to live a life that most 19 year old girls take for granted remains just that, a dream.
This year we want to raise awareness of Epilepsy and the affect it has on those with the condition, parents of these kids who would give anything to see their child being able to live an independent and carefree life. Let's make a difference by participating in Bridge to Brisbane and running/walking for a cause that is close to our heart and show our support of this gorgeous young lady - doing it for Epilepsy Queensland and making a difference.

Epilepsy Queensland Inc
For more than 50 years, Epilepsy Queensland has been assisting Queensland families touched by epilepsy. Services include education, counselling, information services, children’s and family support programs, specialised training programs, support groups and advocacy. Epilepsy directly affects around 2% (1 in 50) of the population and still remains one of the most misunderstood conditions in today’s society. 28,740 children and adults in Queensland with active epilepsy which is more than muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, and several others combined. Anyone can be diagnosed at any age and Epilepsy Queensland helps to replace the fear and uncertainty with knowledge and empowerment. 60 people per week receive an epilepsy diagnosis. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), it is doubtful there is any other medical condition so universally neglected due to a combination of social stigma, low profile and lack of resources. WHO recognises epilepsy as the world’s most common serious brain disorder. Please help us to be the beacon of hope for people living with, and impacted by epilepsy in Queensland.
