Run for Renee

Story

Hey everyone,

On Sunday, 29 August I am participating in the Bridge to Brisbane, and have created a team called 'Run for Renee' to raise money and awareness for people like Ren and their families living with Dementia.

The B2B was something Ren and I participated in for many years before we got pregnant and she got sick. So I find it only fitting to compete in this event on her behalf.

After almost a year of questions, misdiagnoses, tests, hospitals, Dr's, Psychologists and family interventions. In January 2018, when she was just 43, Renee was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia.

Our world, like many other when they receive a diagnosis like Dementia was ripped from under our feet. It was such a shock, one that none of us was prepared for. Losing Ren in the way we love and know was her devastating. The most terrible heartache to bare, and one we continue to live with every single day. Linc won't get the opportunity to know his Mum the way we did. However, we can continue to show him the friend, daughter, Aunty, and partner she was. And the Mum she so desperately wanted to be to him. We will never let her be forgotten.

Frontotemporal Dementia affects people under the age of 65. This mean families like ours, many with kids who still have their lives ahead of them are impacted. Not just the people with the condition, but the entire family.

If you want to join the Run for Renee team, please read on. I want to get as many as we can to participate in this walk for her.  This is going to be such a memorable and exciting day, and I cannot wait to do this with you. If this isn't for you, but you'd still like to support our team and help raise money, then you can make a donation here.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
