Story
Hey everyone
This year I am making a difference by participating in Bridge to Brisbane and running for a cause that is close to my heart and who are doing some amazing work.
Unfortunately, like many other Australians, my loved ones have been affected by blood cancer. We lost my Dad quite suddenly to acute myeloid leukaemia five years ago. He was diagnosed and then two weeks later we lost him in the ICU. I miss him every day. My Mum was then also diagnosed with multiple myeloma in April 2020. The blood cancer has damaged her spine severely that she can no longer walk without aids and it has greatly impacted on her life. There is no cure for multiple myeloma but the treatment options are helping her greatly.
The Leukaemia Foundation have helped provide accommodation for Mum close to treatment as there are no treatment options available where she lives. They also fund research projects to find better treatment options for those facing a bood cancer diagnosis.

The Leukaemia Foundation of Australia
The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the care and cure of patients and families living with blood cancers ( leukaemia , lymphoma, myeloma) and related blood disorders.
The Leukaemia Foundation supports patients and their families by providing services at no cost to the patient. Our services include providing disease specific information, emotional support and advocacy, financial assistance, educational programs to help people live with their disease, safe transport to and from treatments and access to fully furnished 'home away from home' accommodation for regional families.
Millions of dollars are also invested annually to Australia’s leading researchers to develop better treatments and eventually a cure.
The Leukaemia Foundation receives no ongoing government funding and relies on money raised from the community to continue to support patients and their families affected by leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma or related blood disorder.
